The prince, who was elegantly attired in a white blazer and sunglasses, was representing Queen Elizabeth – who is currently in Scotland – at the event.

Royal polo players Princes William and Harry were not present as they are both on duty with the Armed Forces.

Prince Charles spent much of the day ensconced in the royal box, but did leave the area to help fill in the divots left by polo players. However, the prince was back in the royal box to watch as a trio of streakers ran onto the pitch.

The streakers invaded the field during the Coronation Cup between England and Australia and were greeted by a cheering crowd.

Two then fled back into the stand, whilst the third sidestepped stewards before hurdling metal barriers to escape.

The event – which is now said to rival Ladies Day at Ascot – was attended by a wide array of celebrities, including actress Kelly Brook, Harry Potter star Emma Watson and singer Natalie Imbruglia.
