The duchess – herself a member of the WI since 2006 – visited the branch in Myddfal, Wales, during her trip to the region this week.

Camilla and husband Prince Charles are currently staying at their Llwynwermod estate and the meeting in Myddfai was closest to the new royal residence.

The duchess was reportedly in “high spirits” as she chatted to members during her visit.

On Tuesday (24.06.08), Camilla and Charles invited 100 guests, including neighbours and the builders who had worked on refurbishing their property, to a wine and canapé evening at their property.

Charles bought the Carmarthenshire estate in 2006 and it has since undergone a major makeover.

Carpenter Tony Smith worked on the renovation and also attended the reception.

He said: “If you go back a couple of months it was in a bit of a state really but it’s come along really good.

“The architect has said the prince is pleased with it. It’s not very often you are involved in a project like this and the end product is very satisfying.”

Talking about the royal function, he added: “A night like this is something I will always treasure and remember for the rest of my life.”
