Peace One Day does what it says on the tin and aims to get the world to put down its weapons for one day, so that important aid can be delivered to people in troubled war zones.

“Peace One Day is a ground-breaking initiative and I’m proud to be a part of it,” said Doolittle.

Jude Law, one of the charity’s main celebrity backers said: “I’ve seen how Peace Day saves lives.”

Peace One Day concerts have taken place for the last nine years on the same date – 21 September -which has been designated International Day of Peace by the United Nations. But this is the first time for a few years the concert has been held in London and the first time ever at the O2.

Other acts set to play this year include Youssou N’Dour, Afroreggae, Flawless. More acts will be unveiled as the day approaches.
