MICHAEL JACKSON’S tribute shows at The O2 this month have been called off because top performers couldn’t be signed up in time.

Promoters are still thought to be trying to do a deal for the likes of Leona Lewis, Usher and Stevie Wonder to take part in a commemoration of Jacko’s life and work, but the whole thing has now been put back until next year.

“If they ever happen, it will not be until next year,” a source close to promoters AEG told The Times.

“We didn’t want to rush out something that was sub-standard — we would rather wait until we have got the best possible people.”

Originally, the two gigs were to have taken place on the 29 and 30 of this month.

On the plus side for Jackson fans, footage of the singer’s final rehearsals for the This Is It concerts is to be turned into a 3D film, ready for cinemas in London by October 28th.

The movie is likely to be directed by High School Musical director Kenny Ortega, who was one of the main creative forces behind the This Is It show.
