LONDON UNDERGROUND is expected to raise its Olympic pay bonus offer to staff, after unions today rejected a bid of £400 as not “serious”.

“Other employers, notably London Overground, Network Rail and most recently DLR, have come up with serious offers and agreements and we expect London Underground to do the same,” said Rail, Maritime and Transport union leader Bob Crow.
“All we are calling for is a fair deal for all the staff involved in delivering the colossal transport challenge that we will be facing this summer and the negotiations to achieve that are ongoing.”
In earlier deals, also with the RMT, London Overground has agreed to stump up £600 more for staff working over the Olympic period, Network Rail has signed up to a £500+ deal that could see some workers earn £2,000 extra, and Docklands Light Railway staff are in line for a £1,100 bonus.
“This summer LU staff will be asked to work flexibly, and we are determined to properly acknowledge the contribution they will be making,” said London Underground’s George McInulty.
“Discussions continue on the issue.”
