LONDON OVERGROUND is to introduce free Wi-Fi at all 56 of its stations across the capital by the end of the year, thanks to a deal with internet provider The Cloud.

At least a dozen of the busiest stations – including Willesden Junction (pictured), West Croydon and Hackney Central – will have Wi-Fi access ready by the summer, in time for the London Olympics. Those who register with The Could for the Overground service get an hour’s free internet.

“Access to the internet is no longer limited solely to home or to the workplace,” said Steve Murphy, MD of London Overground Rail Operations.

“People’s expectation is to be able to work and communicate effectively and seamlessly while they’re on the move so we’re delighted to support this initiative which will bring reliable, free WiFi to London Overground’s customers.”

The Cloud is owned by BSkyB. Its multi-channel TV rival, Virgin, recently signed a deal with London Underground to provide Wi-Fi at 80 of London’s Tube stations.
