We are delighted to announce the dates for the 8th SCI-FI-LONDON film festival, a six-day event from Wednesday 29th April to Monday 4th May 2009 at the Apollo Piccadilly Circus and The Movieum of London. The festival will feature World, European and UK premieres and three different all-night programmes to include our notorious Animé Allnighter and a nod to things a little J-Horror with a selection of nasty Japanese SF/Horror films.

The festival line-up is still being decided but we have confirmation of the UK premiere of The Mother Of Invention (Dir:Andrew Bowser, 2009, USA www.exploreinspire.com) – a fabulously funny mockumentary about two nerds fighting it out to win the Thomas Edision Inventors Award. We also have confirmation of the UK premiere of the newly treated Ghost In The Shell (Dir. Mamoru Oshii, 1995/2008, Japan). One of the most successful animé movies of all time, this version has been completely re-coloured, digitally cleaned and has a brand new soundtrack and score.
This year also sees the festival using the Movieum Of London on the Southbank. This fantastic film museum is home to hundreds of props, sets and memorabilia and offers us the chance to do some proper breakout sessions – discussing all things science and fiction.
Louis Savy, Festival Director said: “I am really excited about this event. Visitors to our annual festival kept telling us they wanted more, more films, more places to hang-out and more chances to talk about the genre, film and science issues and how the future will shape. We have added an extra day, taken on an additional venue and are adding two full days of debate, talks and panels – we have lots to tall you over the next few months so make sure you get on the mailing list”
