London Fashion Week kicks off today, and this season’s shows will mark 25 years of British designers showing off their looks in the capital.

From Alexander McQueen to John Galliano to Vivienne Westwood, plenty of big names have found their start in London. Although the big names are different today (Christopher Kane, Gareth Pugh…and Dame Vivienne, still), the creative spirit is the same.

With its scheduled shortened from six todays to five (because of calendar changes in New York), London is expected to draw less visitors today and on its final day, 25 February – but the shows are still expected to bring thousands of fashion devotees to the Natural History Museum tents and the off-schedule show location, the V&A.

In the midst of a recession, the fashion crowd is still planning to live it up. Parties are planned at popular nightspots like Vendome and Jalouse, to name a few. Can we expect a Kate Moss sighting? The members of Girls Aloud out celebrating their Brit win? Only time will tell, but keep checking back with LondonNet for all your gossip and reviews.
