Spoof music biopic charting the rise and fall of a fictional singer-songwriter against a backdrop of nearly 50 years of American history. Dewey Cox escapes from Springberry, Alabama, and nightmarish childhood memories of a freak machete accident , with his girlfriend Edith in tow. He secures a recording contract and a backing band, and wrestles with an intense attraction to backing singer Darlene Madison. Meanwhile, Edith – who is now his wife – grows increasingly frustrated that she is left alone to raise his children and his pet giraffe and camel.
