Douglas Quaid is a construction worker on late 21st century Earth. He has a beautiful wife Lori and a job that earns decent money but Douglas is plagued by strange, fractured memories of Mars, which is being mined for the valuable mineral turbinium. Against the advice of his co-workers, Douglas visits Rekall, which allows visitors to embark on a virtual holiday using memory implants. The procedure is aborted when it transpires that Douglas's memory has been wiped before.
