Sonja Frisell directs a visually arresting production of Verdi’s tragic masterpiece, which was recorded live on the stage of the Lincoln Centre For The Performing Arts in New York under the baton of conductor Nicola Luisotti. Aida is a classic love story of betrayal and retribution set on the sweltering banks of the Nile. Aida, a Nubian slave girl, and Amneris, the king’s wilful daughter, both fall in love with Egyptian general Radames, who will lead the king’s army against the Ethiopians.
