The Man in the Hat hastily packs a suitcase into his compact blue Fiat 500 and leaves behind his old life in Marseilles. There is a photograph of an unknown woman on the passenger seat and a Citroen Dyane containing five angry men pursues him relentlessly through sun-dappled hills and valleys. As he travels north to the sounds of Otis Redding, The Man in the Hat encounters enigmatic strangers including The Damp Man, The Chef and The Biker.
