Insomniac machine worker Trevor Reznik boldly claims to have not slept for a whole year, a perception shared by his factory bosses, who fear he might be taking drugs. In fact, Trevor is haunted by some mysterious event in his past, which robs him of his slumber. When Trevor's foundering mental state results in an industrial accident, he begins to peel back the layers of suspicion and paranoia to reveal the underlying cause of his waking nightmare.
