In turn of the 19th century Vienna, an enigmatic loner called Eisenheim astounds audiences with his incredible tricks and sleights of hand. Crown Price Leopold vows to debunk Eisenheim and attends one of the illusionist’s performances where his fiancee Sophie von Teschen agrees to become Eisenheim’s assistant for the grand finale. Soon after, Eisenheim and Sophie embark on a clandestine affair. When the Prince learns of his fiancee’s betrayal he swears revenge. And so Eisenheim begins work on his most elaborate and dangerous illusion: a trick that no one in Vienna will ever forget.
