The Crossing

Sixteen-year-old Peipei barely sees her father and her mother neglects her to enjoy alcohol-soaked parties with her friends. Consequently, Peipei has become self-sufficient and she secretly saves for a trip with a friend to Japan over the Christmas period. The expedition will be expensive, more than Peipei can earn by working as a waitress, so the teenager agrees to smuggle mobile phones for criminal gang leader Mrs Hua across the border from China to Hong Kong, where she attends school.
