Mariella Frostrup narrates a documentary charting the life cycle of the lesser flamingo at northern Tanzania’s isolated Lake Natron. Chicks emerge into a hostile landscape where salt deposits from the lake can turn into shackles on their legs, condemning some youngsters to an early grave. While parents attempt to keep their little ones safe, marabou storks and other predators mercilessly pick off the stranglers.
