Best pals Mike and Kyle have no secrets. When Kyle excitedly announces during a cycling run that he plans to marry his French girlfriend Ava, Mike responds by revealing that he has also slept with her. The two men fall out in spectacular style and drift apart. While Kyle recovers from the betrayal with the help of his family and subsequently finds love with high school sweetheart Marissa, Mike has no emotional support. He descends into a deep depression and turns to the bottle to dull the pain.
