Sultry nightclub singer Lola is the star attraction at a cabaret club called The Blue Angel. Schoolteacher Immanuel Rath arrives at the club, hoping to find of his unruly pupils there. Instead, the professor becomes enraptured with Lola and he eagerly woos the object of his infatuation. As his desire for Lola grows and she huskily sings, "Falling in love again, Never wanted to..." Immanuel slowly loses his grasp on his carefully ordered world.
