A Hindi drama which pays tribute to one of Tamil Nadu’s oldest art forms. Sasikumar plays a nadaswaram player, who upholds the ancient tradition of the ‘water pot’ folk dance known as the Karakattam. He meets a beautiful dancer and together they hope to make sweet music. Shot on location in Chennai, Thanjavur and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tharai Thappattai features a soundtrack composed by Ilaiyaraaja, who worked closely with traditional folk musicians to ensure the authenticity of the project.
