Joey Carter-Wood invites his emotionally fragile sister Florence to join him on the Cornish coast, where she is welcomed into a vibrant community of artists headed by equine painter AJ Munnings, impressionist painter Laura Knight and her husband Harold. Florence falls under the spell of Captain Gilbert Evans, handsome veteran of the Boer War, and he prepares to go down on bended knee. Then AJ sweeps Florence off her feet, pitting the two men against one another for the young lady’s affections.
