In October 1957, the Soviet Union launched the Sputnik 1 satellite into orbit, which kick-started the space race with America. Four British astronomers were hired by the US as part of its accelerated space program and they spent a year together in the early 1960s in California. Fifty years later, these men reunite for a road trip filmed by documentary filmmaker Alison Rose that takes them from the telescope at Mt Wilson In California to larger and more powerful observatories in Arizona, New Mexico and Utah.
