From his home in the former Yugoslavian town of Krsko, one-time speedway champion Ludvik battles against cancer whilst wallowing in a meaningless life of alcohol and anonymous sex. By night, he and his new assistant Rudi take 1000 Euros apiece from Slovenian immigrants to smuggle them across the Italian border in the back of their cramped van. The immigrants dream of a better life in a foreign land but for most of them, their nightmare is just beginning.
