Digitally remastered by BFI National Archive with a newly commissioned score composed by Neil Brand, this ground-breaking documentary captures Sir Ernest Shackleton's ill-fated 1914 Antarctic expedition in his three-masted ship Endurance, which was crushed by ice and stranded the crew in the icy wilderness. In the face of death, Shackleton and his men eventually launched lifeboats in the hope they could reach safety on islands hundreds of miles away.
