Shiraz is the son of a humble potter and he grows up with a surrogate sister, Selima, who was rescued from a grim fate as a girl. In adulthood, Shiraz falls under the spell of Selima but his dreams of a fairy tale romance are shattered when slavers kidnap the young woman and sell her to Prince Khurram in Agra. Shiraz follows her and gambles his life to protect Selima from harm. He is ultimately involved in commemorating her memory in lustrous ivory white marble.
