Jonathan Kent directs Canadian soprano Adrianne Pieczonka in the emotionally wrought title role of Puccini’s thriller of misplaced jealousy and betrayal, which is broadcast live from the Royal Opera House in London under the baton of conductor Dan Ettinger. Noble painter Mario Cavaradossi pledges to help a good friend, fugitive Cesare Angelotti, evade the clutches of the sadistic chief of police, Baron Scarpia.
