Keller Dover, his wife Grace and children Ralph and Anna spend Thanksgiving with their friends and neighbours, Franklin and Nancy Birch. Before lunch, Anna and the Birch’s girl, Eliza, disappear to look for a missing whistle and never return. Local cop Detective Loki arrests oddball Alex Jones, who has the mental age of a 10-year-old, but has no physical evidence to link Alex to the crime. So Keller kidnaps Alex at gunpoint and holds the young man hostage.
