Papicha (15)

As tension mounts between armed police forces and anti-government guerrillas during the Algerian Civil War, headstrong fashion student Nedjma - known affectionately as Papicha - and her friends Kahina, Samira and Wassila sneak out of their boarding school. They slip through checkpoints, covering up make up and sparkly dresses to avoid detection, until they can surrender to the beat of dance music in underground discos.
