Geoff Carter pilots airplanes that carry mail from the South American port town of Barranca, along a perilous path through the Andes. The flying rota is thrown into disarray when Dabb, one of Geoff’s pilots, is grounded because his eyesight is failing. Reluctantly, Geoff hires fellow flier Bat MacPherson to cover the route. Bat has been ostracised by the other pilots because he bailed from a plane, which subsequently crashed and killed the onboard mechanic, who was Dabb’s brother.
