During a drive home from a party, Shula discovers the body of her uncle Fred lying dead in the road. She stands guard over the corpse with her cousin Nsansa, waiting for other members of the clan to arrive including Shula's father. As funeral preparations are confirmed, evidence emerges that several members of Shula's middle-class family including herself, Nsansa and cousin Bupe were sexually assaulted by Fred.
