On her way home from attending a festival with her parents, Okko is involved in a terrible accident. She is the sole survivor and the girl moves to the countryside to live with her grandmother Mineko, who runs the Hananoyu Inn. The establishment is situated close to an ancient spring, which reportedly has healing powers. More remarkably, the area is home to friendly ghosts that only Okko can see. One of these spirits, Uribo, compels Okko to learn how to run her grandmother's inn.
