Fabian murders a money lender and escapes blame when the crime is pinned on luckless father Joaquin. He had borrowed money to provide for his family and is sentenced to time behind bars for a crime he did not commit. Joaquin’s wife Eliza is left to look after their family on her own and she scrimps to care for their children while fending off the demons of despair.
