Jewish dealer Max Rothman lost his arm fighting in the German army and returns to Munich to open an art gallery in one of the city’s abandoned factory. At this time, Max meets the young Adolf Hitler, who hopes to develop his talent for art. While Max believes that Hitler shows great promise, the would-be artist loses interest in the canvas, and diverts his interests instead into politics, drawing strength from officer Captain Mayr, who believes in his vision of a “pure” Aryan state.
