The town of Smeerensburg above the Arctic Circle takes pride in being the most miserable and selfish place on the planet, full of mean-spirited residents like Mrs Krum. Hapless postman Jesper is stationed in Smeerensburg as punishment for being the worst student in the postal academy. In the course of his duties, he meets a brilliant toymaker called Klaus, who has a workshop full of old creations. Jesper hatches a brilliant idea: to donate all of these unwanted trinkets to local children.
