This affectionate documentary probes the meteoric rise of Ian Curtis, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris and Bernard Sumner in Manchester’s punk scene during the mid ’70s. The film splices archive footage with contributions from the people who were there, including Curtis’s lover Annik Honore, concluding not with the lead singer’s suicide but with Hook, Morris and Sumner’s formation of New Order, which would bring the trio even greater success over the next three decades.
