Twelve-year-old Owen sees an advert for a new TV show, The Pink Opaque, and is crestfallen to discover the programme airs late on a Saturday night when he is supposed to be in bed. He becomes obsessed with this forbidden fruit and forges a tentative friendship with older student Maddy, who is allowed to watch episodes at her house. The Pink Opaque is the glue that holds their relationship together. As Owen gets older, he begins to question the blurred line separating reality from fiction.
