Himizu

Fourteen-year-old Sumida and his mother are fortunate – they live on a houseboat and emerged from catastrophe relatively unscathed. Many of their friends and neighbours do not fare so well and are forced to live in tents while the massive clear-up operation begins around them. Classmate Chazawa lavishes Sumida with unwanted attention and as the lad rebuffs her advances, he searches for a new way of life amidst the carnage.
