Komajuro is the leader of a second rate acting troupe which tours the provinces performing kabuki theatre. During a visit to a small town, Komajuro revisits old flame Oyoshi, who gave birth to a son named Kiyoshi, whom her has never known. When Komajuro's current mistress Sumiko discovers the secret of the love child and Komajuro's reluctant to admit the truth, she angrily pays a pretty young actress named Kayo to seduce the boy and force his true parentage into the open.
