True story of Russian sniper Vassili Zaitsev who was the scourge of the German army during the Battle of Stalingrad, notching up in excess of 140 kills. With the body count rising steadily and morale plummeting, the German army despatched marksman and master tactician Major Konig to assassinate Zaitsev. Troops on both sides temporarily laid down arms to allow the two men to battle it out in a life-or-death battle of cunning, skill and wits, stretching over several taut days.
