Goofy and awkward teenager Goku lives with his grandfather Gohan and is viewed as a joke by his peers. Thus, a girl like the beautiful and popular Chi Chi is completely out of his league and Goku must be content to admire her from afar. Little does the young man realise that he is destined to fulfil an ancient prophecy by defeating the dastardly Lord Piccolo and his snivelling sidekick Mai, who seek seven mystical and powerful dragonballs which will grant them unimaginable power. Goku is accompanied on his quest by sensei Master Roshi and by the magical Bulma and fighter Yum Cha, whose combined cunning and strength will help the teenager to realise his potential and perhaps even catch Chi Chi’s eye.
