Struggling writer Jack lands a job as a croupier in a London casino, and watches with amusement as the punters try their luck at the tables, often going home empty-handed. He meets South African glamour puss Jani De Villiers who has a plan to rob the casino, which could make Jack a very rich man. He is seriously tempted, but his personal life is in something of a mess, involving both his disgruntled girlfriend Marion and sassy dealer Bella.
