Demetrius Dupree aka Chi-raq is a gang leader in the Englewood neighbourhood, who fuels the cycle of violence against his fierce rival, Sean Andrews aka Cyclops. During a shootout, an 11-year-old girl is caught in the crossfire and dies. Chi-raq’s lover Lysistrata is horrified and decides to withhold sex from her beau until he lays down his guns and declares a ceasefire. This act of defiance sends ripples across America and inspires other women to force their men to change.
