John Haidar directs Billy Howle in the title role of Shakespeare's tragedy, recorded live on the stage of the Bristol Old Vic. When his father, the King of Denmark, dies - reportedly from a snakebite - Hamlet must stand by as his uncle Claudius firstly assumes the throne and then, within the space of a month, marries his mother Gertrude.
