Stephanie spends several months receiving treatment for anorexia so she can care for herself and her family. She returns home to repair strained relationships with her teenage daughter Pearl and mother Susan, who is more concerned about her impending marriage than Stephanie's needs. There are worrying signs that Pearl is mirroring her mother's self-destructive behaviour. Thankfully, Stephanie's case worker Shaun is a tower of strength and he helps her to reconnect with Pearl.
