Human-vampire hybrid Blade is haunted by the death of his mother 30 years earlier, while heavily pregnant with him. She was attacked by a fanged fiend and went into labour but didn't survive the birth. Now, Blade dedicates his life to ridding the world of the predators with the help of his mentor Abraham Whistler using weapons that exploit the vampires' weakness for garlic, silver and direct sunlight. Meanwhile, vampire outcast Deacon Frost stokes a war between the nightcrawlers and humans.
