Re-release of Nicholas Ray's 1958 wartime drama. Captain Leith and his immediate superior Major Brand are enlisted by the Allied forces to steal plans from the Nazi headquarters in Benghazi. However, the mission is continually compromised by the underlying rivalry between the two men, stemming from Leith's former romantic assignations with Brand's beautiful wife Jane. When she arrives on the base, the tension between the two military men boils over.
