British-American art student Caitlin Walker feels emotionally numb after the death of her father. She struggles to make sense of her grief as she attends art school and supports her emotionally needy mother, Mary. Caitlin's spunky flatmate Hannah provides welcome support in this time of upheaval but Caitlin's turbulent relationship with artist Rory only adds to her woes as she searches for a creative outlet for her pain.
