After he is injured and hospitalised, former soldier Tomaz meets kindly nun Sister Claire, who introduces him to Magda. She needs someone to renovate the rundown home she shares with her elderly, invalid mother in exchange for board and meals. Despite initial misgivings about moving into a remote property without electricity, Tomaz agrees to the deal and sets about restoring Magda's property. He quickly senses that something malevolent lurks inside the house.
