Tom Stall runs a diner with his wife Edie in the picture postcard town of Millbrook, Indiana. When two thugs burst into the diner waving guns, Tom reacts instinctively, shooting both men. Declared a modern day hero by the locals, Tom desperately tries to shun publicity, aware of the likely consequences for his loved ones, including his children Jack and Sarah. Sure enough, a shady figure called Carl Fogarty turns up at the diner, threatening to reveal dark truths from the past.
