Show chiefs were keen to get MC Ultra – real name Justin Edwards – to take part in the new series of the programme, but the X Factor judge’s lawyers contacted CBB makers Endemol to tell them he would not be allowed to take part.

Contostavlos, 24, took Edwards, 28, to court in July for leaking a sex tape of them.

After he admitted putting the footage online, he apologised and signed an agreement forbidding him from speaking about their incident, which specifically included banning him from taking part in any reality TV shows.

An insider said: “Producers wanted Justin to take part in Celebrity Big Brother because of the publicity he would bring.”

Another source said: “Justin would have been TV dynamite.”

Edwards – who met Contostavlos when she was 17 and dated her for several years until 2009 – is said to be furious at being denied the chance to take part in the shower and get his career back on track.

A source told the Daily Star: “He’s absolutely livid. The matter with Tulisa is over and it should not stop him building his own TV career.”

Celebrity Big Brother returns to Channel 5 on 3 January.
