Tom Cruise has branded psychiatry “disgusting” in another bizarre Scientology rant.

The Hollywood actor – who was left furious after a video of him making several absurd claims about the sci-fi cult was leaked onto the internet last week – is seen ridiculing psychiatry and boasting about Scientology’s ability to treat drug addicts in new footage.

In the latest clip, which briefly appeared on video-sharing website YouTube before being removed, he says: “We actually have an easier time getting people off heroin and methadone than these psychiatric drugs, and I’ve worked very diligently to educate people about this. We have the ability to be able to fight drug companies to be able to crush these guys.”

Staring intently into the camera, Tom adds: “Oh, I’m going hard on those guys, and their reign – psychiatrists. I’ve had, I mean, I’ve absolutely had it. It’s disgusting to me. No mercy – none. Psychiatry doesn’t work. When you study the effects, it’s a crime against humanity.”

The Mission: Impossible star also recalls an interview with a journalist who wanted to know the “real him”.

Tom says: “I was doing an interview with someone and she said, ‘I want to know who you are,’ and I said, ‘Know – I’m a Scientologist.'”

In footage released last week, Tom claimed only Scientologists can help in road accidents and revealed he is “dedicated” to bringing Scientology to the masses.

Paula Wagner, Tom’s business partner and close friend, has defended the actor and insists the video was taken “out of context”.

She said: “As a filmmaker and an American, I feel strongly that an individual’s religion should have no bearing on their professional life. It’s easy to mock an out of context video, but that doesn’t change the fact that Tom Cruise is one of the hardest working and nicest human beings I have ever known.”
